The Impact of US Forces in the New Iraq on the National Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran

With the US invasion of Iraq and the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, Iraq witnessed a large presence of trans-regional forces, especially the United States, in which more than 140,000 fully-armed US troops were stationed. The construction of dozens of military, training and espionage bases, despite more than 18 years since the occupation of Iraq, is another consequence of the US presence in the new Iraq. The presence of US forces in the new Iraq has had security implications for the region and Iran. This article examines the effects and consequences of the presence of American forces in the new Iraq on the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The main question of this research is what effect did the presence of American forces in the new Iraq have on the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran? The findings of the study indicate that the presence of American forces in the new Iraq in various political, economic, social and even environmental dimensions has affected the national security of the Islamic Republic. The research method in this research is descriptive-analytical and the method of data collection is library resources and utilization of theories ofCopenhagen school.
